Erotic Cakes' is a listening and inspirational jewel. Guthrie's exquisite playing will undoubtedly become the bench mark for Guitar. Equally Seth Govan and Pete Riley have raised the bar with their Bass and drum virtuosity. The performances here are truly amazing. The one thing that will separate this recording from the mainstream is the musicality of the song writing and the production.

Hein Simons

Nach Einschätzung des Sängers Hein Simons, früher bekannt als Heintje ("Mama"), war 1968 nicht ausschließlich von Rockmusik und Revolte bestimmt. Simons sagte am Mittwoch im Deutschlandradio Kultur, sein Erfolg zur Zeit der Studentenrevolte sei wohl unter anderem auf das Bedürfnis vieler Menschen nach Harmonie und heiler Welt zurückzuführen. "Vielleicht konnte ich das befriedigen. Ich war der Gegenpart zu den Rolling Stones."

Die heutige Berichterstattung über diese Zeit erwecke den Eindruck, als seien rebellisches Verhalten und Musik von den Rolling Stones vorherrschend gewesen. Er selbst habe das damals als 13-Jähriger nicht so empfunden, meinte Simons. "Die ältere Jugend war schon rebellisch und wollte das Erprobte ein bisschen erschüttern, aber ich glaube, es wird vielleicht auch ein kleines bisschen übertrieben."
